Why The Cross?

What was the real cause of death for Jesus that day? I can tell you that it wasn’t being stretched out on splintered wood for 6 hours, it wasn’t the quarter inch nails driven through His hands and feet, it wasn’t a crown of thorns jammed on His head, it wasn’t the stripes that mangled His bleeding back, it wasn’t the intense pain that traveled through every nerve in His body, and it wasn’t the torturous thirst that caused the death of our Redeemer. It was the intolerable load of sin belonging to you and me, and the world, that caused our Savior’s death!
