It's Getting Crazy Around Here
“The Lord gives His people strength, and blesses them with peace.” Psalm 29:11
“Sell crazy somewhere else, we’re all stocked up here!” Those are the words I heard someone recently say, and doesn’t that just say it all about our country right now? It seems that everywhere we look, whether it's education, politics, environment, media, and religion, there are peddlers of crazy all around us. There's no shortage of crazy in America!
The words of king David come to mind as I see our country in a mess morally, intellectually, socially, politically, and economically, because it has denied and defied God. David wrote perfectly about America in Psalm 2.
“Why do the nations conspire, and the people plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against His Anointed (Jesus), saying, ‘Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.’ The One enthroned in heaven laughs…” Psalm 2:1-4a
Wouldn’t you agree that America is a perfect picture of these inspired words as she pushes further away from the bountiful table of truth only to sit at the deceptive table of lies?
King David uses the words “chains” and “shackles” as protective tethers that protect society as found in God’s 10 commandments. Because our society increasingly thinks of God, church, and the Bible as none sense, you can only imagine the satisfaction that the peddlers of crazy find in their Satanic schemes.
When is America going to wake up from this nightmare?
No matter what craziness we have confronting as God’s people, our help and hope do not come from technology, education, finance, politics, Hollywood, and for sure, not the prosperity gospel – our help and hope come from the ever certain sovereignty of God and His sure Word! I love what Charles Spurgeon said, “When you go through a trial, the sovereignty of God is the pillow upon which you can lay your head.” Amen!
So, I’d like to encourage you with some powerful scriptures that we can rest our lives on while crazy is being sold all around us.
“The Sovereign Lord is my strength, He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to reach new heights.” Habakkuk 3:19
“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with My victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
“The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.” Psalm 121:7-8
“Give your burdens to the Lord, and He will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” Psalm 55:22
“The Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He rejoices over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.” Zephaniah 3:17
