Boundaries And Barriers
“You shall be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine.” Leviticus 20:26
To be in God’s presence has been the Church’s battle cry for 2000 years. To experience God’s power has been the driving force for victory over the world, the flesh and Satan.
The presence and power of God comes through the kind of worship that expects the Holy Spirit to draw us out of ourselves. It’s expecting heaven to come to the earth for that moment in time. When was the last time you sensed that your worship to God was freeing you from the pull of the flesh and cleaning you from the shame of certain strongholds? Are there boundaries and barriers around our worship of God?
He has created us with a desire to worship so our hearts can be touched by His holiness! I truly believe that our highest and truest worship is experienced when we offer ourselves as “living sacrifices” in pursuit of His holiness. Never forget that transformation comes through transparency! Is your worship guarded? If yes, then it’s guarded from receiving God’s grace that moves in wonderful ways through worship!
We sing a great song with powerful lyrics that say, “When I stand before Your throne dressed in glory not my own, what a joy I'll sing of on that day. No more tears or broken dreams, forgotten is the minor key.” Imagine what worship would be like if we changed just a few of the lyrics, “I am standing before Your throne dressed in glory not my own, what joy I sing with today. No more tears or broken dreams, forgotten is the minor key of life.” I do not want to diminish what worship will be like in heaven someday, but let’s not forget we worship God now as Jesus said, “in spirit and truth.” That’s got to count for something powerful in the here and now!
Spirit filled worship creates a sense of expectancy regarding God’s blessings and it expels the fears of life that we carry.
I close with the words from the special song that I sang on Sunday regarding the Holy Spirit, “When You speak and when You move, when You do what only You can do, it changes us, it changes what we see and what we seek. When You come in the room, when You do what only You can do, it changes us, it changes what we see and what we seek…You’re changing everything.”
As we worship God throughout the week, and when we come together Sunday, let’s take those words seriously!
God bless you,
Pastor Dave
